So, I know this is a field notes, but I canât not talk about Matty Healy in Malaysia (If you donât know whats happened, read up here, here, here). Iâve seen so many yt people feel the need to defend him. Namely this girl, and I canât tell if sheâs joking??? Powerful people definitely need to be maker of change, but how is Matty Healyâs drunk rant/ kiss going to do that? Itâs hard for me to not get angry listening to her talk, particularly as she says she works in the âsocial impact spaceâ. As usual the internet is the worst and the best place, the best because a couple of years ago the thoughts and feelings of Malaysian queers wouldnât have been voiced. The worst, because yt people are still telling us what to feel. Again, it is hard for me to write this and not get riled up because of how entitled some of these creators feel talking not about their experience, but someone elseâs lived experience.
Rant not particularly over, but I need to move forward before I get even more pressed. Please watch the rest of these here, here, here, here and here.
Hope youâre all having a great week!
